The Office of Internal Oversight Services (IOS) provides independent and objective assurance and advisory services, designed to add value to and improve the Organization’s operations. It helps WHO accomplish its objectives by evaluating and improving the effectiveness the Organization’s interventions and operations, as well as its processes for risk management, control and governance.

IOS conducts its internal audit work in general conformance with the Global Internal Audit Standards promulgated by the Institute of Internal Auditors and adopted for use throughout the United Nations system. The investigation work is in alignment with the Uniform Principles and Guidelines for Investigations endorsed by the 10th Conference of International Investigators.

Evaluation follows the United Nations Evaluation Group (UNEG) norms and standards.
